Cross Country – 2017 / 18

cross-country

The fixtures for the Cross Country 2017/18 season are now available and displayed below.

NOTE: You need to be a current member of Scottish Athletics to run any Cross Country race now, including the League Events. This is a change to previous years and the rule was introduced last year for the 2016/17 season.

If you are interested in running in any of these events, please speak to Simon Grieshaber – click to contact – the events are open to all club members. The races are free as the club pays the entrant fees on our behalf. What have you got to lose? We usually organise car sharing to make it more of a club / team feel to the races.

The season kicks off with a relay event first so you will only need to run a few kilometres as part of a relay team. There are League meetings (usually three per season) and a mixture of Scottish Athletics organised events that make up a typical cross country season. The season normally runs from September through to March and is an ideal way to keep you training and give you focus throughout the winter.

East District Cross Country League races are open to all club members to attend (assuming you are an active member of Scottish Athletics), and are a great way to try out cross-country if you’ve never run it before. They are open races and quite low key; many different clubs attend, some sending only 1-2 runners along. Age ranges from under 20’s through to over 70’s – so the pace is varied and is definitely not all about fast running.

*** The full list of results (including historic results) can be found at the East District Cross Country League site.
