Another busy weekend saw 5 Female Road Runners head to Arbroath for the women only 10 mile road race in which 251 took part.The girls were faced with a brutal headwind for the first 5 miles which was mainly uphill.
However they all took advantage of the tailwind coming home with Nicola Crowe finishing 20 th overall in a fantastic time of 1hr 16mins.Next home was Fiona Angus speeding home into 26th place in 1hr 17mins including tearing her Achilles’ tendon a mile from home. Sonjia Crow ran a blinder managing 1hr 20 mins and 40th position despite not knowing she was running it until the day before.Debbie Jackson ran a cracking 1hr 35 mins and 146th place ensuring there were plenty cakes left at the well organised event.Sally Newton completed the quintet with a very competitive 1hr 41 mins and 193 overall.
The 67th parkrun took place on Saturday with 10 road runners taking part out of 151 runners.
Fantastic performances were the order of the day with Stuart Robertson first home in a brilliant 18.39 closely followed in second place by the ever improving Jordan Strachan in 18.53. Grant Wooler continues to defy the years finishing finishing in 4 th place with a cracking 19.46.Special mention must be given to Alexander Douglas for finishing in the same time and 5th place despite being only 10 yrs old.
Stuart Fraser once again showed consistency running 20.24 and 10 th place.Claire Douglas sped home in 21.13 withRichard Ward next in 22.26.Caroline Jones finished 33rd in 23 mins.Linton Scarborough was next home in 28.05.Karen Walters showed her cycling is paying dividends running a respectable 30.18 with Fiona Morrison completed another fine turnout for the green vests running 35.41.
The Cupar 5 mile race also took place on Saturday with Greg Simpson running a brilliant 26.18 and 4th place.Legendary Bob Brown also ran it in 37.24 taking the first place for the 70 plus age group.
Could runners please wear their running vests for a photo shoot at Bells on Tuesday the 10th of March.

The Inverness half marathon took centre stage at the weekend with the first race of the championship series taking place. 20 green vests took the route North to take part in an 1800 runner event.A stiff wind made the course very challenging but some brilliant performances were the order of the day. Greg Simpson was 1st home and 8 th overall in a fantastic time of 1hr 13. Stu Robertson was next home in speedy 1hr 25.Newcomer Mike Souter ran a blistering 1hr 27 without previously running the distance.Also new to the club Kevin Rogers ran an impressive 1hr 28 which will help him in his quest to run a sub 3.30 marathon in Paris in 5 weeks.Baz Campbell was next home in 1hr31 closely followed by Jules Ramsay in 1hr 32.Dave Macfadyen managed 1hr 34 with Elvis Reid cruising home in 1hr 38
Jimmy Fotheringham was next in 1hr 39. Bob Brown again ran very well to post 1hr 41.
Steven Gilbert 1hr 43, Richard ward 1hr45, Pete Ritchie 1hr 52,Ewan Jelly 1hr 53,Margaret Mcintosh 1hr59, Gillian Smith 2hr 12,Sally Newton 2hr 13,Eleanor Paul 2hr 20,Caroline Hogarth 2hr 20 and Fiona Morrison running 2hr 44 completed a fantastic turnout for the Perth Road Runners.
Saturday saw the Perth Parkrun 68 take place. 7 Green vests took part out of the field of 149.
Stuart Tic Tac Fraser was 13 th home in 20mins 03 Richard Ward was next on 22mins 36 which was a good performance knowing that he was heading north the next day for the half marathon.
Alison Brown sped home in 25 mins with Mel Macrae not far behind on 25 mins 32.Fiona Hair ran her consistent self in 28mins 4 with Kenny Stewart returning from injury on 28 mins 46. Karen Walters completed the turnout with a smooth 31mins 19.
Claire Douglas ran the Lasswade 10 mile race in sensational style in 73 mins.This was done on a hilly course with wind,sleet and hail to put up with as well.
Runners are reminded that it’s 6.30pm on Tuesday at Bells for the club run and Thursday night at Hatton road for hill reps.New runners are always welcome to come along.

Another busy weekend for the Perth Road Runners saw the 69 th parkrun,the D33 ultra and the Alloa Half marathon take place.
First up was the parkrun which saw 18 runners take part out of a field of 162.
Greg Simpson was 2nd home with a new PB of 16.34 Duncan Ryan managed 18.07 which is remarkable after his efforts in the Tokyo Marathon.Dave Hunter ran 18.35 after returning from injury.Stuart Robertson was next home in 18.58 despite having shin splint problems.Martin Mcewen managed a respectable 19.22 With Stuart Fraser next on 20.18 and Jimmy Fotheringham following him on 20.58. Elvis Reid 21.11,Richard Ward 21.51,Fiona Manson22.47,Marianne McLevy 23.55,Grant Wooler 24.17, Kenny Stewart 24.41,Fiona Hair 27.27,Caroline Hogarth 28.32,Karen Walters 31.36,Dorothy Bates 34.11 and Eleanor Paul on 41.28 completed another marvellous turnout from the green vests.
The D33 mile ultra took place on Saturday as well which saw Big Baz Campbell run a magnificent 4hrs 34 and 68 th position out of a field of 338.Peter Ritchie ran 6hrs 15 mins which was a great time considering he was running another 13.1 miles the following day.
The Alloa half marathon took place on Sunday which saw 8 Runners take part out of a field of 1652.Conditions were ideal with a slight easterly breeze helping runners part of the way.
Jimmy Fotheringham was first back in 1hr 31 and 236th position with Mark Leach not far behind in 1 hr 35.Nicola Crowe managed 1hr 38 with her first run after a tough run in the Smokies 10 miler.Richard Hughes ran a competitive 1hr 40 with Sonjia Crow cruising home in 1hr 46.Peter Ritchie ran 1hr 54 which was remarkable after running the 33 miles the day before.Steven Gilbert ran 1hr 55 and Sue Jones 1hr 57 despite running 7 miles before the race started in preparation for the London Marathon.
Legendary Bob Brown was 1st home for the 70+ age group in the Malta Half Marathon on the 22nd of February combined with 1st home in the Inverness half last week for the same age group.
Runners are reminded that it’s Bells sports centre for the club run at 6.30pm on Tuesday and the George Duncan Running track on Thursday at 6.30 pm.

Another busy weekend on the running calendar saw the 70 th parkrun take place. 7 Runners took part out of a field of 144. 1st home and 4 overall was Martin Mcewen in a cracking time of 18.53.
Stuart Fraser managed 19.50 and 10 th place with Kenny Stewart running a fluent 23.55.Neil Muir Cruised home in 24.32 after 11 days relaxing on a liner. Susan Smith was next in 25.06 with Caroline Hogarth going sub 30 with a time of 29.05. Karen Walters ran her consistent self managing an impressive 30.56 and completing the Road Runners home.
The Garioch half marathon took place on Sunday on a hilly course which saw 7 green vests head up to Inverurie.
Duncan Ryan ran a fantastic 1.23.05 and 7 th position overall out of a field of 471. This meant picking up the 1st male vet prize.Mike Wilson ran cracking 1.26.43 and 19 th overall.Mark Leach was next home in 1.41 With Bob Brown running a splendid 1.42. Pete Ritchie sped home in 1.50 with Sue Jones close behind in 1.52. David “The Red Squirrel” Wood running a brilliant 1.56 after a series of injuries.
Sunday also saw the Falkland Lost Trails run which consisted of 2 laps of a 5.5 mile route which included 2 hill climbs. Neil Muir was the first green vest home in very competitive 40mins 25secs with Stuart Fraser not far behind in 40.51.Elvis Reid continues to improve with a quick 41.38. Richard Hughes managed a 46.27 with Caroline Hogarth running 57.13.Shuna Reid completed the The Perth runners home in 59.20.
Jimmy Fotheringham went north on Saturday and ran the Newtonmore 10 mile race in a decent 1hr 5 mins.
Congratulations are in order to Vicky Park who has recently got married to Robin Pollock.All the best for the future.However remember that it’s still 6.30pm on Tuesday nights for the club run.
Due to a return to the lighter nights this week we meet at the Jubilee car park at 6.30 pm for hill reps.
